"Buoy Wonder" is a Curious George episode from season 1. In this episode, when the boat that Bill is entering into the model boat show sinks, George decides to build his friend a new one, and after some trial and error, finds out which building materials sink and which float.

Plot[]

George drives from the city to the country, and is amazed by a boat transporting cars on the river. The Man in the Yellow Hat explains that it is a ferry boat, which transports cars across water.

George reaches Lake Wanasinklake, where a model boat contest was being held. Bill shows his new sailboat that he had built, but leaves the boat to George while he goes to deliver newspapers. George watches the boat, but a falling acorn sinks the ship and he is unable to make it float again.

Desperate, George attempts to build a new boat. He experiments with materials such as metal and plastic before deciding to use wood. He investigates features of boats such as sails, smokestacks, propellers and a sturdy hull. He eventually finishes building his boat.

Bill returns, having finished delivering newspapers. George admits that he sunk the ship, but Bill reveals that the boat only sank because its windows were open and it filled with water. He empties the water out from the ship and closes the windows, and it floats again. Bill suggests that George enter his boat into contest.

Bill, George, Mr. Quint, and Mrs. Renkins win the contest, each winning blue ribbons.
